Services

PFID-F&V services are defined as specific task orders or full programs developed for specific beneficiary groups and country or regionwide projects. Our ability to participate in small, medium or large project initiatives is a function of available financial resources, partnering agencies and the scope of deliverables defined by the donor. In the past, PFID-F&V has carried out specific task orders from a few months of work at home or abroad to full year in-country programs in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Some of these programs have been multi-year and multi-million dollar initiatives.

Our core services include:

Value chain analysis: Understanding value chain development is a priority for many countries promoting increased rural incomes through exports. Our value chain analysis includes a thorough assessment of the value chain actors' resource endowment needed to perform well in the value chain, as well as product-specific value adding opportunities for rural entrepreneurs.

Market access analysis: For over 8 years, PFID-F&V has developed a practical model to assess farm level capacity to access local, regional and international markets on three major levels. First, a firm based analysis is performed to match market requirements. Second, a transaction-oriented business opportunity assessment in developed to confirm seller and buyer compatibility. And third, an enabling environment assessment is carried out in order to identify market expansion opportunities and threats to sustainability.

Business development: PFID-F&V has designed customized business development training programs for companies, cooperatives, associations of exporters and partner institutions. The major focus of these training programs is defined by the market opportunities being targeted and can range from courses on export management to follow up activities on trial shipments to new market opportunities.
