Partnership for Food Industry Development—Fruits&Vegetables

The Partnerships for Food Industry Development—Fruits and Vegetables (PFID—F&V) project collaborates with public and private partners to increase the competitiveness of small and medium scale producers in local, regional, and international markets.

Agricultural workers in Guatemala weed strawberry beds.

Research and development specialists increase access to information/knowledge of new markets, then coordinate efforts with food industry partners to:

  • Identify and expand market opportunities for sale of F&V products in selected countries
  • Strengthen institutional capacity to ensure sustainable supply of high value products
  • Make systematized information on agrifood market development available to the public

Collaborating producers benefit from new or strengthened ties to retail markets, food processors and other key industry partners. At the same time, PFID—F&V industry partners benefit from ties to new sources of produce and technical assistance to address sourcing and supply chain management development.
